Calstock Arts today hosted a Nature Recovery date which was organised by Andrew Brown as part of his role in the Parish Council’s Environment and Climate Emergency Committee. The day was ably compered by Stuart Oates an organic farmer and environmental investigative journalist.
Interesting and passionate speakers gave us insights into issues at a global, national and local level. Anna Gelderd MP sent a statement from Colombia where she is attending the COP. The same message at this international event was echoed by speakers from across Cornwall, and locally within this parish: we can all make a difference .
A collective and individual response is needed to come up with solutions. These will be in the form of practical actions and a psychological, conscious decision to put nature first.
Thank you to everyone who contributed to this day (listed below) and to Andrew Brown for organising it and Calstock Arts (volunteers and staff) for hosting us.
Anna Gelderd MP, Lord Robin Teverson (Cornwall Local Nature Partnership), Richard Newton Chance (Calstock Parish Council) Maggie Freegard (Wildlife Groundswell), Sarah Gibson (Tamar Valley National Landscape), George Holmes (National Trust), Nick Viney (West Devon Borough Council and Derek Gow Consultancy), Dr Nicola Roberts (Westcountry Rivers Trust), Cheryl Marriott (Cornwall Wildlife Trust) and Stuart Oates.
