Upcoming works and update on overnight tunnel closures

We’re continuing our extensive programme of work to update the technology in and around Saltash Tunnel. Our works will help to keep journeys safe and reliable, and reduce the risk of unplanned closures.

Overnight tunnel closures

Overnight tunnel closures (Monday – Thursday, 7.30pm – 6am) will continue until the end of the year.

We understand that overnight tunnel closures mean additional traffic on local roads, and we apologise for the disruption this causes to residents.

We’re working hard to complete the remaining works as quickly and safely as possible so that the overnight tunnel closures can end.

Further updates will be posted on our dedicated webpage when available.

Upcoming works

We’re updating the rotating prism signage on the approaches to the bridge and tunnel.

To work safely, we’ll be working overnight with the following traffic management in place. This is in addition to the overnight tunnel closures:

  • Friday 2 October (12.30am – 3.30am) the eastbound on-slip on to Tamar Bridge from Saltash will be closed. A short diversion route will be in place via North Road and Carkeel. The tunnel will reopen earlier than usual on Friday 2 October at 12.30am, instead of 6am.

Please plan ahead and allow extra time for your journey.  Dates may change at short notice due to weather or operational reasons.

Find the latest road closure information on our daily closures page.
